                            Recent Lake Champlain Valley Reviews

                            Beautiful property and wonderful cottage.

We have enjoyed this special place with our family for the past four summers. The cottage itself is comfortable and provides plenty of room for all of us including our adult children. The oversized screen porch is perfect for dining, reading, watching the many birds that come to visit and of course gazing over the lake! The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained. The dock is substantial and the location is great for boaters. We love being near Basin Harbor and Vergennes and of course a reasonable distance to Burlington. The area offers endless opportunities for walks, runs, hiking, and fabulous exploring.

                            Great for families and fishermen!

My husband and I and our 2 boys (ages 5 and 7) rented the cabin last year and couldn't wait to return this year. The cabin overlooks Pelot Bay, and we were able to launch our kayaks easily from the ramp. There is also a small dock that everyone loved to fish from - my older son caught the first fish on our vacation the day we arrived (large mouth bass). My husband fished from the dock early every morning (and evening) and caught different species every day, including small mouth bass, large mouth bass, pike, bowfin, pickerel, sunfish, and even a carp. The cabin is certainly old and rustic, and we did have to occasionally herd a couple of very large spiders out the door, but it was clean and the kitchen was well equipped for the few nights I cooked indoors. There is no cable or WiFi, and cell phone reception is spotty at best, but we spent the majority of our time outdoors. For the few rainy days, we brought our own puzzles/crafts/games, and the TV has a DVD player which we used at night. Though we never swam off the dock (too many weeds), there are several beaches nearby that the boys loved (Knight Point, Sand Bar, and Alburg Dunes). As for food and supplies, the Hero's Welcome store is just down the road, Kim's Snack Bar wasn't much farther, and a large shopping mall with Target, Best Buy, etc in Plattsburg, NY is about 45 minutes away (including the ferry ride). I would recommend this place to anyone who loves the Champlain islands and do not need or expect luxurious accommodations, and we look forward to staying there again next year!

                            Classic camp perfection

We were thrilled with the charm and amenities of Pine Tree Lodge. Gorgeous lake and Adirondack mountain views from the deck, screened porch, and vaulted master BR. The set-up for our rowing shells was just about perfect: we launched from a small portable dock resting on the rock ledge; no moving or unrigging all week! Our cat loved the peace and quiet and spent most of her day basking in the sun in the master BR. (The other BRS are charming, exposed pine wall vintage beauties.) The area offers dozens of beautiful, pastoral bicycle routes (easy to challenging) and easy access to interesting towns (Shelburne, Vergennes) and a great local restaurant (Starry Night Cafe). We spent most evenings relaxing in the large living room (cozy leather chair and sofa, stone fireplace). Grill set up is easy; we cooked out most nights. Only downside is the vintage sink in the kitchen, which needs new enameling, and the hard, hard water, which occasionally smells of sulphur. No worries on drinking water though: 5-gallon bottles of fresh spring water are always on tap. Thank you so much, Peter, for allowing us to enjoy this wonderful place. It was the best vacation we've had in years. We hope to come back next summer -- maybe for a couple of weeks! Would love to have a chance to use the sauna, too.
