                                            Beautiful lakefront cottage

                                            5 of 5
Our family of five, children ages 10, 13, and 15, enjoyed our stay very much. The house is new and clean with a great kitchen and two nice full baths. The open concept is great when cooking and having conversation. Having a dishwasher, washer and dryer is such a bonus! Along with providing linens and towels. What I also appreciate is the garbage and recycling service. We have rented homes where you need to haul your own garbage and recycling. I find that not to be the nicest way to end your vacation. The lake was great for swimming and we loved using the kayaks and canoe. The dock faces the west so you get a lot of swim time with all of that sun. Take care of the floating dock, it wobbles a bit. We also enjoyed the area hiking and exploring. And of course, we had to treat to ourselves to Maple Creemees! The only suggestion we would have would be to have fans available for those nights it cannot cool down. We had some 90 degree days and the humidity just kept it in the house. We had brought a small fan from home and it did the job in our kids bedroom. Without humidity, the house is cool and comfortable with all of the trees. We definitely would recommend this cottage and come again!! Thanks Mara!

                                            Perfect Family Lakeside Getaway

                                            4 of 5
We had a wonderful time staying at this property! It truly is a diamond in the rough. It's rustic feel, is like a step back in time. The cottage sits right alongside Lake Pauline with a great dock and we took advantage of the rowboat and canoe provided with the rental. The cottage is small, but intimate and we fit our family of 6 comfortably (plus our two dogs)! Because it is an older property without insulation, if you have children, you will be able to hear them from all areas of the home. The porch provides additional space for playing and the kids enjoyed sitting on the porch swing. Our 4 year old twins affectionately referred to the cottage as "the brown house." Our older son was in heaven because he was able to fish from the dock and walk down to the red bridge where Lake Pauline meets Lake Rescue for additional fishing at his "sweet spot." The children loved swimming at the swimming hole and our older daughter enjoyed sunbathing and reading from the dock. We even had the opportunity to grill one night and use the fire pit for S'mores! The kitchen is well equipped for your cooking needs, but I do recommend purchasing some disposable pans for larger meals. Also, I feel that the photos provided do not do this property justice. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was larger than the pictures let on to be and the bathroom was pleasantly updated and very clean. There are plenty of life vests and jackets (2 puddle jumpers for smaller kids), so there is no need to bring any. They also provide an inflatable raft, floats, extra fishing rods, plenty of outdoor seating, etc. Town is easily accessible with some cute restaurants and the Okemo Mountain Resort is right around the corner with lots of activities! Our first night we ate at Outback Pizza, which personally, I would skip. The pizza is very expensive and nothing to write home about (I grew up outside of NYC and love a good pizza). I was recommended to try Goodman's Pizza next time I am in town. You can even take a boat/canoe ride right across the lake to the Green Mountain Sugar House for their famous Maple Creemees and some souvenirs. I highly recommend this property for any one looking for a low key and low maintenance vacation, away from it all. We loved it and certainly hope to return again!

                                            Perfect place to escape...

                                            5 of 5
The Swallow's Nest is a beautiful spot tucked back on a farm, overlooking a marsh surrounded by mountains. It was a perfect place for me and my wife to get away. The back patio was so peaceful to just soak in the sun and listen to the wide array of birds sing their songs. Jim and Lyn were gracious hosts, making us feel very welcome in their backyard. The guest house is meticulously clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, including the bacon, eggs, coffee and creamer that were awaiting us in the fridge! Many thanks to Jim, Lyn and family for sharing their home with us, and we look forward to getting back up soon.
