We held our family reunion here this past Labor Day Weekend. It was the perfect location for a diverse group and we were able to house 9 people for $300/night . The backyard is amazing, with activities for all levels of fitness. Here is a list of what we did out there : croquet, hill rolling, yoga, finding crayfish in the stream (and respectfully observing, not grabbing, them, haha), meandering, raspberry and blackberry picking, picture taking, hottubbing, beer tasting, picnicking, exploring the woods.
The house itself has all of the essential parts to a successful weekend with a family. There was a suite for the family with the baby. There was a downstairs bedroom for parents who don't want to negotiate stairs. There was a large kitchen and stove (Aga, my first time cooking on one). There was a screened in porch that could seat twelve comfortably for dinner . Etc etc- if you are trying to entertain a large group this is the place to do it . Also may personal touches are evident, from the Laura Ashley-decorated girl's bedroom to the numerous towels in every one of the 5 bathrooms.
The couple who manages this property were responsive, professional and easy to deal with. They even made brownies that were on the counter when we arrived. What a welcome ! I would stay here again in a second: the hottub was clean, the house was clean and comfortable. I can't even think of a suggestion for making it better because they've thought of many small touches that made it feel like home. What a good find in the Northeast Kingdom - 5 stars and then some !
