                      Lovely Family Getaway

                      5 of 5
This is a gorgeous little lake in the Northeast Kingdom and the cabin is very charming and comfortable. The lake access was great (just a few steps and you're there) and it was also great to have the grassy yard for playing and relaxing on while roasting marshmallows. There was plenty of space in the cabin for our family of four. It was well-maintained, clean, and had everything we needed for cooking, bed linens, etc. The lake is very close and there are great views from the inside dining area and living room. We especially enjoyed eating outside on the deck for even better views, including several hummingbirds who made regular appearances. As promised, there were also lots of loons. We counted 7-8 a few times during the week, appearing to have a "loon party." There's a small island on the other side of the lake with lots of blueberry bushes on it; we had fun canoeing and kayaking there as well as around the perimeter of the lake. Cool, clear water for swimming. The site is near other cabins, so we weren't totally isolated, but we also had plenty of privacy. Lots of good hikes in the area, including Bald Mountain, which you can see when kayaking on the other end of the lake. I definitely recommend this gem.

                      TRANQUILITY

                      5 of 5
This cabin was a rustic dream. My wife and I loved our week here. While we mostly lived on the deck, the interior of the cabin is nicer and more comfortable than the pictures we saw posted indicated. The kitchen was easy to cook full meals in, and the bed we slept on was great. The bathroom is beautiful with all it’s screened-in views. The pond was mesmerizing. We saw no one, and heard human activity only a couple of times the whole week. But we saw lots of wildlife action from eagles to herons to humming birds to a beaver who crossed slowly in front of the cabin every evening at 6. The edge of the pond was ringed with narrow band of small lily pads. We bought $4 blow-up floats at the local hardware store and coasted from the dock out across the plants and into the center of the pond where we took long swims every day. In the evening we built a fire in the fire pit or stargazed from the deck. We slowed way down at the cabin. Very mellow. We took some longish walks without ever leaving the property. But it was nice that Newport was only a few minutes away and Derby just a bit further. Between the two towns we found everything we needed. Really special. We will never forget it.

Incredible location to completely get away

                      5 of 5
Approximately a 10-15 minute ride off of Route 5A, this cabin is situated on Bald Hill Pond, which lies east of beautiful Lake Willoughby. When my wife and two very young daughters arrived, we knew we had a great spot for the week. My 2 year old was in awe at the sight of the pond when we got there. Inside, the place is immaculate. The entire cabin is constructed out of wood - you can see the attention to detail put into it. Everything you need is available to you - just bring your own food and towels, and you're good to go. The pictures in the listing just don't do the cabin nor the location justice. I looked forward to waking up every morning to the cool, clean air while looking out onto the foggy pond at the loons. I also did some fishing, albeit unsuccessfully in the provided canoe. Most of the time I was the only person on the pond. There was no WiFi there and barely any reception which was slightly inconvenient for local research, but I realized in the end made the separation better. Even when we got reception in our travels I avoided the connection. Also, with the 2 little ones, the grassy area led to some stairs to a beach area that was very shallow where they could play in the water. We loved this place and can't wait to get back. This is a very special place that is likely amazing any time of year.
