Home away from home with wonderful hosts!

          5 of 5
I am a travel nurse from Indiana working in Vermont. I brought my father, husband, toddler, and two sweet cats. I am staying in this home for an extended stay of a total of 3 months. It has quickly become a home away from home for me and I will be sad to say goodbye. Christine and Bob, owners and neighbors, have welcomed us and treated us like family from day 1. They have went above and beyond just providing housing. Christine brought us tomatoes from her garden and let us borrow a special cooking pot so we could try cooking lobsters. They are always quick to solve any issues that have come up which have been minimal. The house itself is connected to theirs but allows complete privacy. It is two bedrooms with a sleeping porch with a futon that we used as a “mud room/play room”. One room has a king size bed and the other room has a full size bed plus a bunk bed. We absolutely love the living room and kitchen because of its open floor plan. The kitchen is fully stocked with the equipment you need to cook and includes a dishwasher. Christine and Bob left some fun board games that have made for some great family fun. They also have a nice flat screen TV and flawless internet. The location is perfect as it is on a private road but is within walking distance to town. You can walk to the paved bike path and have access to the park, a beautiful creek, stores, mom and pop restaurants, and a charming little movie theater. The price was also perfect and they gave us a reduced rate for an extended stay. Christine and Bob told us they were not used to having “extended stay” guests but we couldn’t tell. They were perfect hosts and we consider them our friends if not family. I will be recommending their home to other travel nurses coming to the area outside of “ski season”.

          Fun, creative house

          5 of 5
Four friends and I stayed at "the Sanctuary" for a week in August 2016. What a treat! The house is a work of art in itself. Nice renovation. Hand crafted ceramics, amazing blown glass, and other original artwork are found in every nook and cranny. Amazing kitchen, perfect for entertaining. Comfortable beds. Lots of space. The house has some quirks, but I found them to be a part of the fun and reflective of the laid back vibe of Vermont. If you're the kind of person who has to have everything in perfect order, you might be frustrated. For example, the downstairs bathroom has an open shower. Yup, no curtains, no easily defined shower space. A shower head on the wall and a drain on the floor in the same area as the sink and the toilet. Yes, not what you expect, but hey, why not? It works perfectly fine. Finding all of the corresponding light switches for the lights in the main living area was like a game. Some of them were in the most unexpected places, but that was part of the charm. Basically, everything we needed and more was there to have a satisfying, restful week. Everyone in our group loved the house. Great location, about 15 minutes from downtown Brattleboro. A short drive to lots of scenic areas. So relaxing swimming in the West River and Rock River. Great area to walk or cycle. For grocery shopping, the Brattleboro Coop is a must. Want a good sandwich or have a sweet tooth? Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe will satisfy your need. Want to see a Brattleboro tradition? Check out the Saturday farmer's market in West Brattleboro where locals and tourists mix. The Sanctuary provides a great home base to enjoy nature, food, arts, and music. The owners were warm, welcoming, helpful. Communication was clear. Deposit returned with no hassle. A delightful stay at a most unusual home.

          Very Pleasant Stay

          4 of 5
My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at this cute studio apartment, perfect for two people. Everything was very clean when we arrived. The owner showed us around and was very accommodating. Appliances all worked well. Location is perfect for exploring Brattleboro and all the small towns in that area of Vermont; close to I-91, and just off state Rte 9. Highly recommend this property!
