What a neat home! We had the pleasure of a week of skiing in Utah, staying at this very cool home in Brighton. We are three professional couples, used to the finer things in life and high-end travel. This home didn’t disappoint and accommodated us very nicely. We made good use of the hot tub and the sauna in the larger bathroom. The home had incredibly unique decorating features, was clean, and there were plenty of towels for our group. We used the well-stocked kitchen, having breakfast together as a group each morning, and then stayed in for some dinners. The moose in the living room gave us a lot of laughs (if you’d stayed at this home, you know what we mean).
In terms of location and choice of skiing, owner David’s prediction to us was right on: that once we got up to the top of the canyon, we’d never want to leave. We left just once, and that was the first night, to go back down to town to a few grocery stores to stock up and go to a restaurant. For the rest of the week, we didn’t budge. We ate twice a few miles down the road in the canyon at Silver Fork Lodge (what a great place!) and also enjoyed a dinner at Honeycomb Grill in the Solitude village area. No need to trudge back down the canyon for excellent food. (But if staying here in the winter, you most definitely want a four-wheel drive, just in case.)
We decided to only sky both Brighton and Solitude, as we were highly impressed with both—amazing skiing for all levels (our group ranged from green to black diamonds). We also couldn’t believe how decent the food was at both ski resorts, and for reasonable priced—Molly Green’s at Brighton and the Roundhouse at Solitude. Real food, and good food! At both resorts, the lift systems were terrific, the slopes were beautifully groomed each night, there were absolutely no lift lines, and the personnel were incredibly friendly and helpful. But Brighton… well, what a cool place – hoping it doesn’t get too discovered!
David could not be nicer, or more accommodating or responsive. He’d used our vacation home shortly before we used his Utah home, so we’d developed nice communications. When we had a minor problem while we were at his Utah house, he responded immediately, stopping by personally to get it repaired. It was so nice to meet him in person!
If you are an avid skier, wanting fabulous, true skiing without crowds, lift lines, or pretense, and a fabulous home to make your base for your ski trip, this is it!
