Comfortable - a home away from home

5 of 5
As anticipated and I expected a lot! First, the owners were very helpful in planning our trip. They had a very nice information packet that covered soups to nuts about our stay, Istanbul and the neighborhood. Very nice. They answered my every question about a good Hamam, restaurants and the holiday that occured during our stay. When we arrived, a car met us at the airport. Very convenient way to start our trip. We arrived to find the home as described with everything we needed. The owner met us and took a lot of time to explain the area, answer our questions and make us feel at home. The location is just up the steep hill from a very nice retail area. This area had many good restaurants, grocery, fruit, bread, pastry shops. As well as other shops like butchers, cheese and liqueur stores. We visited this section every day. We would highly recommend the Agora Restaurant (the old one - there are 2 with the same name). Another 100 feet below this street was the main street, the Bosporus and a very nice park all the way to the spice market. It was a casual 20 minute walk along the shore to get to the spice market. Passing several nice breakfast and lunch restaurants and clubs. The weather was very nice and so we chose to walk several days, watch the people fishing along the park, etc. A taxi to the Bazaar, Haiga Sophia etc was very inexpensive on the days we decided not to walk. There are also buses one can take. Easy and convenient location. As someone else recommended, when taking a taxi home. I would write the address on a piece of paper as well as the owners phone number. The owner gave us a green local map which was extremely useful in pointing out where we wanted to go. By the second day and a couple of trips, we could easily direct the driver the right way. The home was comfortable and relaxing. The showers were very good with a rain shower head and plenty of hot water. The balcony in the top bedroom was small but nice with a good view. Wifi was good and we had three people on it at once with no issues. I would bring comfortable walking shoes as the hill is a little steep and Istanbul is made up of hills. Great value, great and helpful owners with a beautiful home. The owners have 3 similar homes all in the same area. Highly recommend. Dan, Svetlana and Tim
