If Columbus, on his third voyage in 1498 had climbed the hill above Englishman's Bay and stood where the Green Acre Cottage is located he would have experienced almost the same view as exists today. With the exception of short stretch of road and two distant microwave towers nothing has changed. Just forest (including the first protected rainforest in the Americas) and an incredibly beautiful tropical bay. Although there are a couple houses tucked in the trees nearby so one does not feel isolated, there are no structures visible from the large partially covered deck.
My wife and I found the cottage ideal for two people with a fully equipped kitchen, great Wi-Fi and all that one would expect in such a well maintained property. There are a wealth of activities including bird watching from the deck - bird listening cannot be avoided as there are some noisy ones. The area is delightfully undeveloped without major resorts and hordes of tourists. However, thee are many activities for the adventurous including snorkeling, fishing, hiking in the above mentioned rainforest and visiting quaint fishing villages. And yes, the many beaches are spectacular.
We plan to be back to this unspoiled Caribbean gem.
