This lovely house in Ben Wheeler, Texas is the ultimate escape. My sister and I spent a week there intending to visit the Canton flea market on the weekend. We blew off the flea market because this home and its surroundings were so comfortable and peaceful that we didn't see a reason to leave, so we stayed. We brought food and drink and cooked and ate on the back screened-in porch and it was lovely. No matter what we cooked or what we needed, it was already stocked in the house. We wanted for nothing. The Innkeepers even left fruits and muffins, a loaf of bread and freshly collected eggs from her chickens. This place had everything, even a full-sized washer and dryer. Be sure to bring your own detergent. My sister and I were very pleased and will most likely return the year after next. Next year it's my turn to go to Michigan. Betty and Scott Elliott live right next door, but they are just there if you need them, they are in no way intrusive.
If you are looking for a lovely place to relax without being too far from a big town (it's only 1.5 hrs from Dallas), Ben Wheeler is the place to be and this cabin is the place to stay. There was even information in the cabin about all that's going on around town and things you could do if you did decide to venture out. There's books of any kind you might want to read, several popular board games, playing cards, dominoes and a whole cabinet full of DVD movies for you to watch. You will be amazed at just how perfect it is. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Elliott for keeping such a fine place.
