Austin is a special place that people rave about, love, and adore. We felt it here, at this certainly charming, warm, comfortable, nook. Location. Southern Hospitality. Design. Attention to detail. Meticulous, yet laid-back, generous, and kind owners. All here. Location is bucolic, idyllic. Ridiculously close to everything, yet dreamily near stately mansions. Yet super friendly, chill, laid-back neighbors. Close to Lake Austin, Mount Bonnell (which we visited three times). Shawna, the owner, is an amazing woman! Super smart, kind, and deep. Books everywhere. She is a designer and it shows. Lights where you need them. Comfy, clean beds that seem like you're the only person who ever slept there. Seriously! We spent a month here. Not pictured: an amazing garden in the back. Succulents, vegetables, and flowers. Handmade planters from reclaimed pallets. A gorgeous garden shed that the owners happily shared their key to for our bikes. When we arrived, all the right lights were on (a lamp everywhere you need one). Fresh flowers everywhere! Wine, beer, and sweets in the fridge. More fresh bakery delivered by the owner's adorable twin boys on Saturday! Toys for my kids! Friends for my kids! Paths in the yard for my daughter to ride her bike on! The owner's husband helped us with safe bike routes for my 7 year old and I (and drove me to my birthday dinner since I didn't know what to do without Uber). When a problem or a few arrived (all caused by us), Shawna's response was literally immediate, as she lives next door. Unbelievable. Blew a fuse. Fixed in minutes! Broke the blinds. New blinds the next day! Son locked us out of the bathroom. Shawna picked the lock within minutes! This isn't a run of the mill rental. This is the Hills rental. They are kind, generous, smart, giving people (they even shared their babysitter twice and watched our kids themselves a few times)! Thank you for making our one month in Austin as amazing as it could possibly be. We will definitely be back, and will most certainly stay in touch!
