We loved our vacation at Greenback Guest House. The kitchen was well equipped. Turn up the refrigerator/freezer when you arrive. There's plenty of room in the 1920's farm house. I was surprised there were no drafts in this beautiful old lady. I call the house primitive, but it has nice applicances, eletricity and indoor plumbing. Forgot to mention the spring water. Oh my! I am addicted to this wonderful water. Comes out of the icy cold and I could not get enough. It was cool during the nights for this Florida girl, but I knew how to light the huge gas furnace (very easy since you only turn a couple of easy to read dials). The pilotlite was already on. It provided great warmth and circulated the heat throughout the house. There are two other units in the house; one upstairs, one downstairs which provide additional heating/air conditioning if needed. The TV is for playing the DVD's provided by the Lackey's. We received good cell phone signals. No internet however. Our pups loved going for their walks out in the meadows and were very curious about the horses and cows they saw there. They were comfortable and felt at home. Unusual for our pets not to feel anxious in a new place. I found the farmhouse soundproof. Neither of us heard the hanging chimes on the front side of the wrap around porch. Even during a storm. Which reminds me, this place has a great metal roof for charming sound effects during a rainstorm. We would open the door in the mornings to the cacaphony of many birds and animals. Just delightful! Our regret was being away from the farmhouse too much. I have given a 4 star rating because there is no 1/2 star available in the rating system. The only issue was the lack of more seating in the front room. We did had some people over one afternoon and grabbed chairs from the kitchen. I was unable to sit on the cushy sofa and there was only one other front room chair. Understand, this is not a run of the mill hotel chain. If you want a new experience, and we did, or to remember your Grandparent's old farm, this is the place for you. If you have active children there is a climbing rope, plenty of space to run and play, a stream which runs beside the house. The two Lackey boys might show you how to ride a steer or their sister may race her horse around barrels. This property, the owners and their three children are all the entertainment you will need to make your stay memorable. A great value!
