Our overall experience in this apartment was excellent, BUT there were a few things lacking in the apartment and our arrival/introduction to the apartment was a bit unsettling.
We arrived on one of the coldest evenings in Madrid, after a delayed flight and missing baggage. Although we called our contact after we were on the ground, we were kept waiting for about 20 minutes in the cold.
One of the first things she showed us were ear plugs. Fortunately we never needed them, but not a good place to start. She then asked us what we wanted to know. Hard to think at that moment, but we did manage to ask where the trash was emptied. There was no list of useful information which we have had at other apartments we have rented and there was certainly no welcome fruit or other nicety as at other properties we have rented. She did make sure we had enough toilet paper which let us see a storage area under the bed, useful because we were staying 10 days and would not have known where to find sheets to change the bed midway. As there was no drier in the apartment, we did find partially dry newly washed towels on a drying rack in the living room.
The apartment was adequately but sparsely furnished. There were no good reading lights in either the bedroom or the living room, where, in fact, one of the ceiling lights was burned out. As well, there was no plug for the bathtub that we could find although we made one out of aluminum foil. There was no follow up call the next day to see if we had questions and while we had a phone number to call, we decided to work around the problems.
Our bags arrived the next day, and while overall the apartment was clean, there was paper trash in the ample closets as we unpacked.
The problems with the apartment could easily be fixed, and the location allows one to walk basically anywhere in central Madrid which is what we wanted.
