We spent two glorious weeks in Juan's beautiful Andalusian villa and were extremely sorry to leave. If you are looking for authentic Andalusia then look no further from the endless undulating olive groves to the stunning unspoilt local town of Santaella, this really is it.
When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Juan's daughter Marta, who advised us where to go and helped us get settled in. I can't speak highly enough of the house and garden, we spent many an afternoon relaxing by the pool and cooking fresh fish on the bbq. We were even treated to a traditional Arroz Cordobes cooked by Juan himself.
The house is ideally situated for making day trips to Córdoba, Sevilla and Granada. We also recommend a trip to the unpronounceable town of Ecija (also known as the frying pan of Andaluisia), which you can comfortably wander around in an evening.
Aside from the glorious sunshine, fantastic surrounds and beautiful history, what really made this trip for us was Juan's warm hospitality. Nothing is too much, my fiancé is a self-confessed foodie and having having expressed an interest in the local olives over a glass of wine with Juan he offered to take us to see a local olive oil factory, an offer that was too good to refuse. He also educated us on the rich local history of the area, taking us to a lovely local hermitage that we otherwise would have missed.
Really cannot recommend this house highly enough. Our stay at Casa Recreo will forever stay with us as one of the happiest times we spent.
Our warmest thanks to Juan and his family.
