We wanted to stay somewhere unusual and the Shook Up Shark was perfect: the whole time we were aboard felt like vacation in a way that a B and B or hotel just doesn't! We saw more wildlife from the back of the boat (while moored in the marina) than we did on a guided kayaking excursion we took. We found that we could walk into Charleston if we were motivated, or pick up a cab from across the road if we were feeling footsore, so the location of the Shark was ideal in that respect too - felt like we were outside of town, while it was still very accessible.
Joel was attentive to our needs and questions without being intrusive in any way. The Shark is well maintained and comfortable, although the galley is a tad cramped by this landlubber's standards, and I wouldn't have attempted any complicated cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed lounging around the living room or playing board games at the kitchen table whenever we weren't enjoying breezes on the back deck area. The marina was quiet the whole time we were there, although there is a background hum of traffic from the bridge beside the marina.
Joel gave us some excellent suggestions of things to do that we might not otherwise have found (improv comedy! Shem Creek restaurants!). I would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a unique vacation stay.
