We had a couple of days to kill before heading to Fort Jackson for our nephew's basic training graduation. We had everything (and I mean everything!) you could possibly need for a completely relaxing time. The duplex is on a quiet street just a short walk from downtown Folly Beach and it's an even nicer walk if you do it on the beach which is about half a block away. Close enough to go to sleep every night listening to the ocean. The rental was very clean with comfortable beds and literally everything you need except groceries and clothes. And needed groceries were minimal as restaurants/bars/stores were well within a short walk from the house. Make sure to take a walk to Bert's and the Lost Dog Cafe while in Folly Beach. Vanessa is the BEST host! She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable - even did some basic shopping for us because we forgot a few of the minimalist grocery items we would need. In fact, we saw so little of her, we started to worry! We will definitely be back, not only to Folly Beach, but we'll be making sure Vanessa has room for us when we do come. We didn't stay long enough this trip to truly enjoy both all the amenities Vanessa's place has - from the hammocks and fire pit, the grills for cookouts, the beach supplies and the most excellent back porch (I could have sat there all day, listening to the ocean and not much more) - AND sight see!! There are so many things to do in the area, all within a short drive - Charleston, Fort Sumter, the Yorktown, Caw Caw Nature Preserve, the beach, the National forests - one visit just isn't enough!!
