                Loved this house!

                5 of 5
Earlier this month, we spent a few nights at this house in Hermanus, and have added it to our short list of favorite houses we’ve stayed in. We’ve been traveling the world, and have now rented houses or apartments in twelve countries along the way. The white villa is on a quiet street, but close to both the coast highway and Grotto Beach. We loved the big kitchen that was well thought out and obviously set up with pride and care, to be used by the owner rather than just as a vacation rental. The living room flows onto the large covered porch, both with comfortable furnishings and a view of the water. Sometimes it is hard to describe why a place feels good when you are in it. Maybe it is the décor, which was understated, very comfortable, with personal touches. Maybe it is the open spaces, and high ceilings, or the large windows. Maybe it is the saltwater pool, or flowers, or courtyard out back. The house is not over-done or decadent, but welcoming and feels like a home. Whatever it was about the place, we extended for an extra night and wished we could have stayed longer. We will remember this house for a long time as one of our highlights during our travels.
