        Beautiful get-away

        4 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay! This place is so relaxing with the lake and the beautiful garden! We do miss the great view on the little lake! Communication and evety thing else with our host, Jan, was so easy to deal with and she gave us great recommendations for what to do and where to go. The house itself is just like on the pictures - traditionally "old" but so comfortable and has really everything you need. We would definitly come again.

Beautiful, New England charm. Clean, quiet and relaxing home bordering a scenic small lake. Amazing

Jan could not have been a better hostess. This charming 2 bedroom home with a restful den and kitchenette was perfect for our stay. The home was very clean and had all the modern conveniences we needed (including WiFi). If you are requiring the amenities of the Hilton Inn like 24hr activity, late night dancing (nightlife), food service etc., then stay at the Hilton. But if you enjoy peace and quiet in a tranquil setting, this is the place. Jan saw to our every need while checking in, and also served as a wonderful concierge, recommending wonderful places to see and dine. 20 minutes from Brown University, 20 minutes from Newport, RI, (to view incredible mansions along the Atlantic, and dine on fish 'n chips at a local pub with great tasting Guinness!) and 15 minutes from the airport makes this an ideal central location. Comfortable beds made for a good nights rest, and the morning was picturesque, sipping coffee while watching family of ducks swimming in the small lake. Swans, egrets, and crabs walking on the waterbed made for a wonderful connection with nature. Bring your camera or better yet, your canvas if you are a painter, because a more picturesque setting will be difficult to find. The only things to beware of, for people like us in Texas who are used to 24 hour Walmarts, wine and beer purchases, gas purchases, etc., this town pulls down the shades and rolls up the welcome mats at 9:00PM. You have to make your own pizza after 10:00PM, so have all your groceries purchased before you check in. If our travels ever take us back to Providence, we will definitely book this home again. Jan far exceeded our expectations of the charming New England hostess. She was available by phone and she is as pleasant as she is accommodating. Thanks for a wonderful visit, Jan!

        Memories are made here!

My husband & I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here at the Sunflower House. This place has a special meaning for us & that's why we were delighted to return here to have a nostalgic vacation. You see, 50 years ago my hubby was in the Navy & stationed at the nearby Seabee base. He rented an apartment upstairs in this very house. This is where we began our life together as young newlyweds. Life had taken us back to Oregon after the Navy. When my husband asked what I wanted to do for our 50th anniversary I said I want to return to Wickford. We'd traveled to the area in 2011& found that it might be possible to rent the downstairs apartment. Wow! What a grand idea! We were pleased with all the upgrades & the super friendly & helpful owner. We enjoyed reading the history of the house & once again exploring the area. 38 Brown Street is indeed very special to us & will be forever. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
