              Designers dream

              5 of 5
My husband and I had a wonderful two weeks here among the wild flowers and deep lawns. Our little dog had a blast chasing rabbits while we harvested ripe tomatoes and fresh herbs from the gardens and made dinner each night on major Viking stoves - both indoors and out. It was a great place to entertain - on the loggia, under the vines in front and at the big table inside and was a good place for overnight guests too - we and they had privacy. The house was beautifully decorated, magical, really, and beautifully equipped, as promised, from the fine towels and linens to the good beach towels and chairs and bicycles. The outdoor shower was dreamy, but the baths indoors were great too, beautifully designed, all marble and high-end finishes. The one challenge was finding a beach we liked as many beaches in the area are private. We learned, however, that if you walked to the far end of the closest public beach parking lot (a parking pass is $40 a week, $12 daily, though bicycles are free), and kept walking, you would come to a beautiful stretch of dunes and beach called Goosewing Beach, with good white sand, great waves and waters. It was well worth the trouble - we went every day. Little Compton itself is wonderful - low-key, uncrowded and peaceful. The fruit stand nearby on route 77 is great - we went there every day too!

One of the most beautiful amazing homes ever!

              5 of 5
This incredible home made from mid-western barn that was trekked across the county piece by piece, and completely rebuilt into a home with all the modern comforts. The dining/living/kitchen area is a wide open floorplan with ceilings (must be over 20 feet high) where we could easily gather together for a fun dinner together, or spread out into nooks & crannies for a quiet morning coffee and newspaper. The kitchen was such fun to cook in -- it and the bathrooms have top-quality modern appliances/fixtures/appointments. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. Everything was immaculately clean. The home is located down a cool, private, dirt driveway that winds through the brush, and offers complete privacy. Great for a Big Chill weekend of fun in the house -- but also just a short drive to polo and Newport attractions. STUNNING!

              Unique and wonderful retreat

We have stayed at The Barn many time over the years and love it. Architecturally I've never seen another place like it. The "chapel" is a great place to read or play ping pong on hot afternoons, the deck has wonderful views of the bay, and there are magical paths through the woods down to the water. The state park is close by and wonderful for swimming. And if you have a canoe the Slocum River is one of the most well preserved and beautiful rivers in the Northeast.
