                                      Tulio's house was GREAT!

                                      5 of 5
The house was very clean and comfortable. The ocean, with feeding Eagle Rays and Pelicans, was 20 steps away. We got to nap and read in the hammocks, feeling a warm breeze, during a hot afternoon and during a (short) rainy afternoon. The best fish we saw anyplace were off Tulio's beach and up towards Melones. The best reef we saw was a 15 minute kayak into Melones. You NEED water shoes/flippers to go into the water (sharp coral and spiny urchins). You also need to be ready for mosquitos especially in morning and evening. We took our coffee to the ocean and watched hummingbirds, pelicans, gulls, fish and a ray. Tulio was great! He told us the history of his home and his great-great grandfather. He set us up with kayaks, history, destinations and with Guilin, who took us to Culebrita and showed us the sea stars. I feel like I have a friend in PR now.

Spectacular Views Are Just the Beginning!

                                      5 of 5
My fiance and I stayed at Pitarres Nest for a week in January 2016. We loved Culebra and the cottage. Culebra is very laid back which is perfect for us. For those who seek more of a "resort" atmosphere or nightlife this may not be the place for you. If, however, you're looking for a simple low key spot, then Culebra is one of the best islands I've been to. Check-in was easy at the same place we rented our Jeep (Carlos Jeep Rental). Golf carts and Jeeps are the mainstay of the rental fleet on Culebra. Personally for this property and in general, I would suggest a Jeep. The clerk at Carlos had us follow her up the hill to the gated compound where the cottage is. This was good as I'm not sure we would have found it otherwise. Like most Caribbean islands navigating the streets is basically trial and error until you learn your way around. On a side note, parking at the cottage is ample, but parking in the town of Dewey can be quite challenging. The cottage is set on a large parcel just as the description says along with several other cottages. Pitirres is the most private. It sits down the hill surrounded on 3 sides by vegetation. It's advisable to take the provided LED flashlight with you, as navigating the windy path down from the parking area can be fun in the dark after consuming a couple of rum drinks! We did have a couple of minor issues during our stay. The first was wi-fi that didn't work upon arrival the second was the failure of the water pump on our last day. With that said, Lynnette was easy to reach via text message and responded very quickly. As you can imagine getting things fixed on a very small island can be a challenge. Even though the technician and parts had to come from the main island of PR, these items were addressed and fixed very quickly. Considering the remote location I was quite pleased with the time frame. This is the tropics, so one should be prepared for bugs and lizards. We didn't have any major issues with either inside, but it can be buggy outside at night. The cottage doesn't have A/C. We knew that going in, and with fans the temps were not too bad at night, but a little warm during the day. Our one complaint would be that the awning on the front of the cottage was wired closed and unusable. We think the afternoon temps would have been lower indoors if we could have used the awning to create some shade. All in all, we were very happy with our stay here and may very well return next Jan/Feb!

                                      Magical Views

                                      5 of 5
I have been going to Culebra for 17 years and I've had amazing stays but this little cabin captured my heart like no other location has before. I want to start by saying that the manager, Lynette, was extremely sweet, accommodating and efficient. We never met (as it's usual in Culebra) but she was constantly there via text or phone call at any time. The location of the cabins couldn't be better. They sit very high and therefore the views are extraordinary. I loved waking up in the morning, opening the window or door and looking out at the water and the neighboring islets. The cabin I stayed was further to the left, sort of tucked in on the side of the mountain. Walking on the path towards it, you are surrounded by beautiful manicured tropical gardens. You can see the love put into it. The cabins are all extremely well maintained. They looked brand new. The best way to describe them is that they looked like 'doll houses' in the middle of paradise. The cabins are very small but to me that was part of their appeal. You have a bed, a table with two chairs, refrigerator and other complementary things to make your stay perfect. The bed facing the window to the view is magical. I had some of the best night's sleep I had had in a long time. Delicious well-chosen bed sheets and soft pillows lulled you into instant sleep. Now the bathroom...You would never expect such a luxurious little bathroom in a tiny cabin, but that's exactly what it was. I fell in love with the rain shower head and looked forward to it every day after a long day at the beach. I travelled by myself but I can definitely see that it would be the perfect place to stay for a romantic stay. The cabin was lovely and charming. It was super clean and neat and although small it provided everything you needed.
