As a return visitor from Oregon, I was fortunate enough to stay at Bellisima for a second time this past December.
Aspects of the beauty of the Guanica rental is as follows:
~ Quiet, serene simplicity, during time spent simply hanging out at the rental. The location is at the end of a peaceful cul de sac. The entire back deck overlooks the dry forest area.
~ Though the deck view will take your breath away, this is also a place to catch your breath during traveling. For example, doing the laundry after more frenetic city travel and hanging it out to dry on the porch laundry line was pure, peaceful pleasure.
~ The awesome forest view from the long, private deck at the back of the home. With birds abound, who needs a TV?
~ Hiking through the dry forest. Amazing plant life. So interesting to see cactus growing close to the sea.
~ Mary Lee's by the Sea (nearby) has a boat that goes directly to Gilligan's Island for $10 each. It's easy to make arrangements with Captain Freddie to drop you off and pick you up at any time. Bellisima has plastic ware for picnics and Gilligan's Island is a delightful day trip for swimming and snorkeling amidst mangroves.
~ Another nearby facility that was equally as welcoming was The Copamarina Beach Resort. It's a wonderful place to have lunch and enjoy the beach while waiting for Captain Franklin to take you out to a coral reef for an all-inclusive snorkeling trip. ...$55 each, well spent. A leisurely afternoon trip with wonderful fish sightings. Each of these local "Freddie and Frankie captains" are fine gentlemen. They were very accommodating, and each worthy of tips.
~ Personally, I love cooking and Supermercados Econo in Guanica had absolutely everything I needed. That said, I supplemented purchases from the large grocery with fresh fruit and veggies bought at roadside stands and good quality flash-frozen fish obtained at a nearby pescaderia.
~ The blender in Bellisima works great! Wonderful for morning smoothies and evening Pina Coladas. We had absolutely fabulous meals at our home away from home. The kitchen is more than adequately equipped. The whole house has a good feel.
~ In addition to the conscientious care that the owner Pepita and caretaker Tony provide, the people in Guanica were all very friendly. We always felt safe and relaxed. Even after having stayed at Bellisima twice, I would still look forward to returning. This specific rental and location is truly a highlight during any visit to Puerto Rico. Joyous!
