We had the most wonderful stay in this stone cottage in Mazes. We arrived in the evening when it was close to dark, and had no trouble finding the house. We had not brought provisions, but managed to find enough to put together a simple meal from the small shop/café at the bottom of the hill.
The house was well equipped, cozy with classy touches (no wifi - but you really don't want it there). Plenty of space for the four of us - two adults and two older kids, with room for more. And the location was perfect for watching village life while sipping morning coffee. We stayed here and used it as a base for exploring the Rio Douro and Lamego. But our favorite part of our stay was a hike that we stumbled upon to some old mill houses and stream. We had no idea where it would lead, but decided to follow the hiking sign a short way down the hill (we followed the sign to molhino, and were happy to learn first hand what a molhino is!).
Can't speak highly enough of this house. Definitely worth going out of your way to stay there.
