We booked this lake house as a last-minute ski weekend over the New Year and it was everything we needed it to be! We were looking for something cozy with nice views that we could come back to after spending some time on the slopes at Montage - and that accepted dogs. Overall the house was everything we were looking for and very well appointed with just about anything we could want or need, helping us have a fantastic weekend away from the city!
Beth Ann made sure the house was clean, tidy, and warm for our arrival. She met us at the house and walked us through every little detail - from local restaurants to light switches. The house is close to a couple of good restaurants, grocery stores, and other specialty stores. However, if you want skiing or movies or mall shopping you have to drive 35-40 min. It sits in a cool lake town that is pretty sleepy in the winter, but I can imagine it gets very lively in the warm months - we want to come back to take advantage of all the water activities offered.
Things to consider: if you come in the winter and there's snow on the ground, AWD is not required, but definitely recommended as the driveway is gravel and steep enough to give 2WD cars some trouble (otherwise you can park at the bottom and walk up). The house only has 2 bathrooms; 1 is in the basement and the other on the main floor. Not a big deal for us as we were only 4 people, but the upstairs sleeps 6+ that must either share the main level bathroom or go to the basement. The basement has a very comfortable sleeper sofa, a very large lounge couch, and a cozy fireplace - plus you get your own bathroom (this is where my wife and I stayed). The main floor TV is a SmartTV and they provide access to Netflix, Hulu, etc - very nice surprise.
Again, the house definitely seems geared toward spring/summer/fall activities, but provides a great getaway during the winter for anyone wanting to hit the slopes or just sit and relax. Highly recommended!
