                Completely Private, Yet Central Location

                5 of 5
I love visiting my family in Pittsburgh, but I am not a city person. This house offers the best of both worlds. It is in the middle of everything, yet it is completely hidden and private. The house is built into a hill, and the road leading to it is a bit tricky. However, once you get acquainted with the location, it is easy to navigate. Do not get me wrong, there are other houses up and down the street (and on the hill above and below you), but the way the house is situated, it is very difficult to see any houses or people (especially when seated on the back patio area). The house is very rustic, yet it has all the modern conveniences you will need. The wifi is exceptional, and the TV has all the channels you could want. Because of the privacy and seclusion of the location, it is almost surprising to step outside and hear the "noises" of the city. You completely forget you are in Pittsburgh! However, I never heard any noise when inside the house. I completely and thoroughly enjoyed my time in this house while visiting Pittsburgh, and I will be staying here on all future visits! You will never find this amount of privacy and seclusion in the middle of the Pittsburgh Metro area.

                Wonderful Home Away from Home

                5 of 5
We recently spent a month in Pittsburgh while my daughter was receiving outpatient treatment after an extended hospital stay. We had been staying in hotels and this was a most welcome change. The owners were very helpful and hospitable. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen allowed us to prepare home cooked meals and it was an inviting atmosphere to relax. The location was convenient to the hospital and to the University of Pittsburgh and the many surrounding things to do in Pittsburgh. We frequented Frick park for relaxing morning walks. I would highly recommend this home away from home.

                Clean, quiet, and comfortable.

We found our safe little parking space at Elena's Homeaway house in December for our trip to Pittsburgh for a conference downtown. The neighborhood has some houses that look a bit derelict, but overall it is a neighborhood on the rebound. We walked every day to the free T-station to town, or the closer nearby bus stop, even at night and had no problems. Inside the house, the steps are steep, so we were just careful going up and down. (It is not suitable for handicapped walkers.) The main kitchen area/living room level are comfortable and nicely appointed. The kitchen was well stocked. I do a lot of cooking for my husband's allergies. The central stove island was real nice to use. The top floor had the bedroom and the lovely bathroom. I loved the walk-in huge tiled shower! The bathroom was beautiful. We had a lovely time there. Everything was spotlessly clean. The clean hardwood floors were good for my husband's allergies. We went to the Pittsburgh Holiday Pops concert, the Phipps Conservatory, the International Classrooms at the University, and other great museums in town. It's an easy walk to the fantastic National Aviary (try to get to that.) It was delightfully quiet for sleeping at night. Since we live on a farm, going to cities can often be too noisy for us but this property is set on the alley side of the main road, so it was great for sleeping. If we come back to Pittsburgh, we would definitely stay here again.
