In booking this property for a family week with our adult children, I hoped for something special as well as spacious and comfy. We love nature & birds, so this 'getaway' retreat right on the lake called out strongly. We were BEYOND DELIGHTED with the reality. Watching the many moods of the sky and the water - stretching out in the hammock watching the lake sparkle - the morning mists, the wild turkeys on the lawn, the glassy reflections when the lake was still... and no other house or people visible! It was great to have the use of the kayaks etc, and we spent many happy hours just 'being' and enjoying. The scent of the pines, the starry skies at night. I liked drinking my early coffee on the front deck watching the burning sun rise over Kittattinny Ridge across the valley between the trees. The osprey fishing down the lake morning and evening. Oh, and great fun fishing ourselves - lots of bites and plenty of small catches. We also had a fire one evening outside in the firepit. Never once missed TV - glad to be away from it! The house wi-fi was all the connectedness we needed.
The kitchen was extremely well supplied with everything to cook and serve. The beds were fine. We had no issues with the well-water as we are used to this phenomenon, but appreciated the provision of bottled water for our cooking and drinking.
While feeling 'away from it all' we also enjoyed being not too far from charming, bustling historic Stroudsburg and the scenic Water Gap. We enjoyed exploring the area. Delicious free-range eggs from the lady on the way to Dingman's Ferry made for tasty breakfasts!
Also the owner was very responsive and easy to deal with. A great deal of thought has obviously gone into preparing the house for sharing, and this makes for a nice stay.
It wold be my dream to return for another stay, perhaps at a different season to enjoy the lake in a different set of moods.
We couldn't be happier with this booking. It was everything we hoped for and more.
