The property was beautiful, massive, and impressive. More than what we had imagined!

Upon arrival Tom and Merry were both so kind and welcoming. They met us at the cottage near their home. The first thing they did was welcome us and our small spunky dog. I had previously read about them giving their guests a welcoming snack, and Merry sure did not disappoint with home made brownies and a bottle of wine! Both Tom and Merry showed us around their cottage and even had a fire ready to be lit outside since our first night the temperature was dropping down to 50, not to be expected in August. The property had at least 3 miles of hiking trails and we set out each morning to explore them before the temperature rose up into the 80's again. It was a great time overall. The local recommendations Tom and Merry had given us were amazing. The nearby towns have so much history it's something city people like us do not get to see often. Throughout the trip I took a ton of photographs and sent them to close friends. Everyone is dying to come stay at Wagner Hill Guest Cottage just based off of its beautiful aesthetics. We recommend this place to any couples looking to get away, it is by far the perfect escape. The 5 days we spent here were definitely some of the most memorable days my husband and I have spent together. We are looking forward to coming back to the cottage in the future! Thanks again Tom and Merry we could not have asked for a better place to get away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. Justin & Amanda

we came up to the area for a family reunion. 6 of us total. and it was a pleasure to stay here! it made it real special to all be together in a cozy house. we did a BBQ. it was very peaceful and quiet. we were welcomed with nice details. the place was clean . john was very communicative. it was much nicer than staying in hotels in the area as we had a nice big living room to have nice hang outs and the deck. we felt very comfortable and it will be a part of our memories! it was just what we needed!

                      Lovely Hideaway

I should have written this last summer (2015) when I stayed at the cottage for 7 weeks. Charming. Comfortable. Quiet. Bright and cheery. Clean. Nice size kitchen, well-equipped for cooking full-size meals. Loved watching the birds at the feeder--hummingbirds, a wren, goldfinches, etc--and a pesky squirrel that hung upside down from the wire to get the food. English garden surrounded by forest. Feeling of seclusion even with nearby neighbors. Comfortable queen bed. Washer and dryer, a bennie for travelers. Lake Superior, about a ten minute drive, was my favorite swimming hole--and they rent rowboats. Well-located for restaurants and an ice cream shop (Kauneonga Lake). A small market and a gas station about 1 mile from cottage. Very close to Bethel Woods. Supermarket in Monticello and Liberty. Lots of local color. Lots of interesting roads for jaunts in the countryside. I used the cottage as a retreat for writing. Good place to work. Owner was friendly, accommodating and easy to reach. I was sorry to leave. (BTW, I actually arrived July 6, 2015, but I couldn't enter that date.)
