        Beyond Our Expectations

My daughter and I picked the Pacific Northwest Lodge as our home away from home while visiting my son at UO. The lodge was spotless, and the kitchen and bath were stocked with all kinds of extras: local coffee, coconut milk, yogurt, eggs, nuts, snack bars, popcorn, toiletries (including a toothbrush, toothpaste, makeup wipes, razor, and more!). Be sure to check out the supplies before stopping at the grocery store. The loft bed is tucked into a cozy nook and is extremely comfortable; the thick futon mattress in the living area was comfortable as well, but the beanbag chair was perhaps the most cozy spot of all! A smaller adult or child could definitely use this as a bed. The lodge is charmingly decorated and feels larger than it is due to the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen/loft area. The bathroom is on the small side but was fine for just the two of us. We would have liked to have taken better advantage of the Zen garden but unfortunately it was rainy and chilly for most of our 4-night stay. Neither did we use the yoga/bonus room (except to borrow a yoga mat), which has a separate entry and is warmed by a space heater. The neighborhood is quiet and the lodge is tucked back way from the road. We were just 5 minutes from my son's house and 10-15 minutes from the UO campus, and a few minutes' drive from the nearest grocery store, so the location was perfect for us. While staying at the lodge we hiked both Spencer's Butte and Mount Pisgah, and the views of the Willamette Valley and surrounding area were spectacular! As mentioned in the listing, the stairs leading up to the loft are steep and the ceiling height in this space is limited, so it's probably not a good fit for tall people, young children or senior citizens. On our third night at the lodge there was an area power outage for a couple of hours. Within 10 minutes of the power going out, I received an email from Noah and Jessica asking if we needed extra blankets, flashlights or candles. When the power had not come on by nightfall, Noah stopped by with two flashlights and a half dozen candles, but luckily the power was restored shortly thereafter. We didn't get the chance to meet Jessica, but these hosts were extremely attentive and obviously care about the comfort of their guests. All in all this home was a good value and exceeded our expectation; we would definitely stay here again. Thanks Noah & Jessica!
