My friends and I arrived at Pilot House in the middle of a major wind and rain storm. We had a small gathering of puffins just below the pier which was fun as none of us had ever seen puffins in the wild despite them being indigenous to the Oregon coast. We think the wind may have caused them to move inland from the coast. The sea lions were constantly swimming around the pier also. So despite the wind, we had a great view of the wildlife action from the big windows of the Pilot House. The next day the wind had died down and the cargo ships were moving over the Columbia bar and we were enjoying watching all the river traffic. Everyone stayed in the condo most of the weekend and took advantage of the amazing view from the windows.
The Pilot House was perfect for a group of six friends meeting to reconnect. There is so much space in this condo that sometimes we had to go looking for someone who had slipped away to a quiet place. Having three bathrooms is a real blessing with six women wanting to shower every day. We could be ready to go in a very short amount of time. But this visit we weren't wanting to leave the condo because we were enjoying watching the storm and all the action on the river. This was our second stay at the Pilot House and we will be back. We love it here!
