              Newmarket: Bungalow Rentals (6)

              Nice... but..... Rules, rules, rules!

              4 of 5
Overall a nice house in a really nice area. The property is close to shops and highways into Toronto. It worked well for us. However the whole experience was marred a little by the rental process. First off, Home Away messed up the reservation. This should not reflect badly on the renter but the owner was more interested in maintaining his ratings than helping me sort out the issue. So, essentially I was forced to rent this property because of the issue. Then when we arrived was given a list of rules longer than my grandma would give me when I stayed in her house. The "check out" list is so extensive that short of scrubbing the floor and cleaning the toilets you essentially have to clean the house for them. Despite also paying a $100 cleaning fee. This would be fine if the house was spotless on arrival. This was not the case and I felt like I was cleaning up all weekend in order to save my security deposit. There is no warm and fuzzy "homely" feel here. The plastic drop cloth on the dining table is just one example. The owner insisted that we wait for him to come and "inspect" the property before we checked out. I really felt like a child being pulled in front of the headmaster! Owners were pleasant enough but I am not sure that the hospitality industry is for them.
