Our stay at Tumble Sea Cottage will go down in our books as one of our best vacations. The opportunity to totally relax and forget about what all we left in 'real life' was right there as we sat in the adirondack chairs, looking over the sea, watching the bald eagle soar overhead, the waves roll to the shore. The cottage, itself, was spotless and quite comfortable. We had everything we needed without clutter of excess. Stuart was a great armchair tour guide .... he came over shortly after we arrived and spent time telling us and showing us on a map where the optimum opportunities for hiking, eating, site seeing were. This was invaluable information to my husband and I who wanted to get the most out of our visit to Cape Breton. We were able to locate some areas that only the 'locals' know of and have some experiences that we would not have had other wise. Like picking up freshly boiled lobster at The Bistro and bringing it home to enjoy. Or the hike to Old Mariners' Cemetery at White Point, way up north of the national park. We also truly enjoyed the hike on the Skyline trail in the park, eating with the local folks and folks from literally all over the world at The Red Shoe Pub while we listened to music and saw some pretty amazing dancing, the food atThe Happy Clam in Cheticamp where the Acadian influence was very obvious, and breakfasts at Downstreet Coffee in Inverness. We loved meeting Lawrence and having ice cream at the General Store in Margaree Harbour .... and, actually, the quaint, picturesque beauty of Margaree Harbour, itself. Worthy, too, was a visit to Baddeck and touring the Alexander Graham Bell museum. The Salmon Museum was delightful in that the lady who showed us through was so knowledgeable and pleasant. In fact, we found the folks we met at most every place we visited quite lovely. My husband thoroughly enjoyed two days of fly fishing with a guide in the Margaree River. I highly recommend the Bistro Lobster Pound at the Island Sunset Resort in Margaree Harbour. The gal there (wish I could remember her name!) was amazingly helpful and friendly. And the lobster truly was the best we had our entire vacation in lobster country! We also can heartily recommend the meals and service at the Resort itself. The stay at the Tumble Sea Cottage exceeded expectations and provided opportunities for many wonderful memories. We hope to be back one day!
