Cute little cottage in a terrific location

            4 of 5
This house was a great base camp for exploring Baddeck. The location is unbeatable--you can walk to the grocery store, local restaurants, pubs, etc. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower has wonderful water pressure, and the cottage itself is more than adequate for two adults. There aren't many frills or indulgences (cooking can be a bit of a trick), but the location and overall comfort can't be beat. An easy recommendation.

Well maintained, quiet, and cozy with lots of room

            5 of 5
Uli and "Tomo" welcomed us to this cozy cottage after a long day of driving. Cathy had made us a pie (which was delicious). They were the perfect hosts - available when we needed them and anxious for us to make this beautiful home our own. There were many cozy nooks for reading on rainy days, and lots of space to sit outside on sunny days. A retreat at the end of busy days spent hiking, swimming, and whale watching. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Good view from barebones but functional cottage

            4 of 5
My husband and I stayed in BayCroft Cottage for a week. The photos on VRBO are mostly accurate (Since they were taken, a hot tub replaced two of the Adirondack chairs on the deck. And the dining table we had seated 4.). The view of the water is good and as pictured. This cottage was plenty roomy for us. Sleep quality was excellent as the location is very quiet and the mattress on the larger bed is very good. The shower was nice, too. There is nothing fancy about this cottage at all. Everything is clean and functional, but totally low-end in terms of cost, e.g. Linoleum, countertops, refrigerator, microwave. In fact the microwave is so low-end that it is only 550 watts, which makes it only marginally useful. The one big deficit in this cottage is the lack of decent pots and pans and other kitchen supplies. There were two frying pans -- one very small and one that was truly wrecked and terminally greasy. Only two real mugs. No pot holders. Really, I rated this property as a "4" rather than a "5" based primarily on the furnishing of the kitchen. Beware if it is your intention to cook real meals in this kitchen. You should also know that the lake access at the bottom of the driveway (and across the road) does not include a dock. You simply have to scramble over some small boulders to get to the water.
