Comfortable and charming, away from it all

5 of 5
Charming property, can see it is used as a family home so lovely touches to all the furnishings - try the indoor swing and hammock. Berit and Roy were lovely hosts, friendly and helpful from when we arrived to leaving. We used the rowing boat to fish on the lake by the cottage and Roy also took us to another lake and showed us how to use a little motor boat. Caught no fish but we enjoyed just pottering on the water just taking in the scenery. Definitely a place to stay to unwind. Weather wasn't great while we were there but it was nice to sit by the wood burning stove in the evening and just read for a change without the temptations of TV or internet. Fun to manage without the basics like no running water, but otherwise was fully furnished with all you need to self-cater. Was a lovely place to stay to start off our holiday in a relaxing way. Would definitely recommend a stay to experience something different, but agree you do need a car to explore the area.

Lovely cabin right on the water's edge

5 of 5
Great location, cabin was very clean, host was very helpful and accommodating. Hiking trails right down the road, and you can rent a boat from the host to go out on the fjord. We had a wonderful stay!

Fabulous Flam!

5 of 5
My husband, 2 children (aged 13 and 10) and I spent a week in one of these lovely cottages in Flam. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed and it has the most magnificent views down the fjord. So, even though we didn't have the best week of weather, we loved sitting in the living area and just reading and relaxing and enjoying the views. The cottage is within walking distance to the town where there are some touristy shops and some restaurants as well as a small general store and "viking" pub. You can also walk to the train station and we would highly recommend hiring bikes in the town and catching the Flam railway up to the last stop (the train has a special compartment for bikes) and riding down part of the Rallarvegen road back to Flam. You do need to be reasonably confident on a bike but it was one of the highlights of our time in Flam. Another "must" is to catch a ferry from Flam down the nearby UNESCO World Heritage listed Naeyerfjord and get the bus back to Flam. Anders was a wonderful host and in fact he went "above and beyond" when he mailed my phone back to me after I accidentally left it behind in the cottage. He also showed us how to use the little outboard boat that came with the property and my husband and son had fun puttering about and attempting to fish. He and Sue have also prepared their own very comprehensive list of things to do in and near Flam. I would highly recommend a trip to Norway and staying in these cottages.
