Lovely and cozy unit feels like a cabin and convenient to Sugar Mountain!

5 of 5
We had a fantastic trip and loved our stay at this unit! This was our third trip to Sugar Mointain and hands down this was our favorite one. Sugar Top property is convenient to skiing at Sugar Mountain and has a grocery store literally at the bottom of the mountain plus nearby restaurants and retail. This unit in Sugar Top looks even better than the photos in person and was very comfortable. The decor and furnishings and higher ceilings made it feel like a cabin with the convenience of a condo. Owner had great communication. Highly recommend and would rent again!

Loved the house!! View was spectacular!! Could update electronics. Couldn't make the master bedroom remote work. Some of the overhead lights blew and had to use lamps

Beautiful location

I think the best thing about this house is the natural setting. If you're looking to visit nature, this may be the house for you. The river is great, the woods and walking trails are great and the views of the mountains are great. The house is situated close to the river so the deck overlooks it. Across the river is a road, but it seemed to be lightly traveled, although we were there in the off-season. There is a house across the road that spoils the view a little bit, but it's not too close. The front yard is large and somewhat flat. Our kids played football and frisbee extensively in the yard. The neighbors are not too close and there is a good bit of vegetation between the lots. At the end of the street is a walking trail that meanders along the river and leads to Black Mountain campground. There's also a golf course, but that was closed during our stay due to the season. The house itself has a lot of space for big groups. It could use some updating, but is certainly adequate. The lower level is a basement, but with windows and walkouts so it's not too dark. The house has a great room and kitchen on each of the two levels. Downstairs has a bath and two bedrooms. Upstairs has 2 baths with 3 bedrooms. I think several of the sofas pulled out, but we didn't need them so I'm not positive. Downstairs is a combination pool/ping pong table. All of the bathrooms are spacious. Personally I question the use of space for the giant hot tubs and relatively small showers, but I understand how some people would prefer that. The TVs are small. The one downstairs is maybe 24" tube TV. The upstairs one is probably around 30" flat panel. You probably don't want to plan to watch a big game here. Having two kitchens is nice and they both include the full gamut of appliances, but neither is a large kitchen. There definitely are not enough dishes/utensils to fully supply two kitchens. We were constantly going from one to the other to get what we needed. I think there was only one real oven pad in the house. The upstairs has wood floors and the basement is carpeted. I only slept in one of the beds--it was reasonably comfortable and I didn't hear any complaints from anyone else. As I said, we stayed in the off-season so the golf course and associated restaurants were closed, but don't expect to run down the street to get anything you need. It's a mountain drive to get to just about anywhere.
