Beautiful Chalet and Beautiful Views

4 of 5
The chalet was just as beautiful as described and was well furnished, clean, and met all expectations. The home was decorated for the season as a Christmas tree was up and decorated with additional holiday decor. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable with enough extra blankets and pillows. The owner's were very responsive, helpful and kind. We loved the quiet getaway but still had the luxuries of phone, internet, and any modern day item. We enjoyed shopping in Murphy and would like to mention Parson's Pub as a must place to eat as well as Shoe Booties. Both restaurants are one of a kind and excellent. The only concern we had was the drive from the gated entrance (1.3 miles) up to the Chalet was very steep and winding. The driveway was also very steep so we parked at the bottom and walked up. I would suggest arriving during the daylight hours to avoid the possible fog that could sweep in especially being unfamiliar with the curvy road. The walks around the property and up the street were peaceful and quite enjoyable. A very serene, calm, and peaceful getaway.

Relaxing Getaway

5 of 5
We had a great time at Whisper Mountain Chalet. My daughter and I took 4 of my grandchildren, ages 8 to 14 with us. The grandchildren had never been to the mountains and they had a great time. We took the children down to the lake in the valley several times to fish and ride around in the paddle boat. It is walking distance from the cabin. The cabin was roomy enough for all of us and quite cheerful and clean. It is at the top of the mountain and the first trip up on a gravel road seemed quite steep to us flatlanders. (We are from Tampa Bay area)However,we got used to driving the roads and made it easily in my Chrysler van. We enjoyed the hot tub and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. We were grateful for the clothes washer and dryer. Sandi and her husband were nice and very helpful and quickly took care of a minor plumbing problem while we were out sightseeing. We went into Bryson City several times and the kids enjoyed Deep Creek where you can rent a tube and float down the creek all day.We took a short hike from Deep Creek to see Juniwhank Falls. Cherokee and Maggie Valley were another day trip. Nantahala Gorge is close by where you can go white water rafting or kayaking. My 14 year old grandson who is an avid saltwater fisherman, fell in love with fly fishing and received some valuable tips from a fishing guide at Nantahala Outdoor Fitters. We found that there was no service for our T-Mobile cell phones at the cabin and we had to drive toward Bryson City for about 20 minutes before service kicked in. That disturbed the kids the first day but I actually liked it. They gave up texting and computer games for board games, roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and catching their first fireflys. While wading in the cool water of nearby Panther Creek, they found an authentic Indian arrowhead. After we returned home, my 11 and 12 year old grandsons said," This was the best vacation ever. Even way better than the cruise that we took last year." Thank you Sandi for helping me create happy memories for my family.
