wonderful cabin in the woods off the grid

                  4 of 5
well-appointed, kept clean, homey and cozy. a few things: - using both the heater and the fireplace made us too hot. i would advise using one or the other as the small place heats up quickly. - there is no wifi and no cell phone reception - this could be a problem for some, but it wasn't for us. - there are no sheets, towels and pillowcases provided - you'll have to bring your own. we mis-read and brought extra blankets and towels, but we made it work (used our blankets as a sheet over both bed & pillow and used provided blankets and our blankets for a duvet.) - the owner provided us with information about hiking and groceries nearby in addition to everything we would need to access the cabin. everything was so helpful. thank you. - there are no toiletries such as shampoo/conditioner, soap, etc - remember to bring your own. there is handwash though for the bathroom sink. - good supply of paper towels, toilet paper in the pantry. we didn't need it but it was good to know it was there just in case! thanks for the stay in your home - it was perfect for us.

                  We loved it!

We stayed for a week with my parents and two kids. The house was spotless and very nicely decorated. Not at all old and shabby like some of the rentals I've stayed in. The kids loved the pool table and cable. I liked the fireplace and view of the creek and the general coziness of the place. The kitchen had everything I needed and then some! The house is located on a long and pretty private road which was safe for jogging and riding the bikes. We also had picnics down at the creek which you can also see from the house. We will definitely stay again!

                  Great fly fishing headquarters

It was the perfect location for the opening of trout season. There's a creek that runs right through town --- within walking distance. If you have a NY Reservoir permit, the Gilboa Reservoir is only a few miles down the road (It's about six miles long and 80ft deep in some spots)!. I also fished the Catskill creek and took a day trip to the legendary Esopus creek (I guess about a 1/2 hour drive). I'll be back in the summer for more fishing and hiking. Ella, the owner, was a lot of help and keeps the cabin super clean. I would definitely recommend it, especially for the price!
