We have fond memories from our weeklong vacation at Trout Lake. I sure miss those breathtaking views from the cabin’s huge picture windows and master bedroom! We particularly loved the paddle boards, kayaks, cruising around the lake on the Boston Whaler and relaxing by the bonfire with the neighbor’s sweet chocolate lab Maggie. The kitchen’s well-equipped with all the gadgets and utensils you could possibly need, the beds were comfy, and the lake was clean and warm. Our kids loved the loft too! During our stay, we also enjoyed hiking at Bear Mountain and took an amazing 2-hour pedal car ride between Saranac Lake and Lake Clear through Rail Explorers. The remote control to the TV was a little tricky and the hot tub could have been a few degrees warmer, but it really didn’t impact our overall stay. Nicki was great to deal with throughout the booking process and our refund was processed quickly upon departure. If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway in the Adirondacks, look no further. Loon Song is the way to go!

rustic cabin steps from hiking trails, lots of wildlife

                        5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at the cabin with our four kids (aged 18 months to 6 years) and my elderly mother and everyone had a terrific time. There was a shallow beach where my kids could splash in the water all day, a dock for them to fish from, canoes and kayaks, and terrific hiking trails just a few yards away from the house. One trail led to a hidden beach, another led to a gorgeous waterfall, and the woods were full of animals and mushrooms and wild blueberries. We saw lots of deer, LOTS of adorable beavers, and even a fox swimming right past the cabin, plus many different species of turtles and frogs. Everyone had a ball and we hope very much to return next year. The property is probably not for everyone -- the electricity sometimes went out, and there was no internet, plus the nearest grocery store was pretty far away-- maybe 40 minutes away. Squirrels and chipmunks kept getting inside (my kids LOVED this, but you might not), and there was no shortage of mice. Finally, the cabin is on the same lake as a summer camp for teens. On the one hand, the camp staff was very nice to us-- they helped us with directions and shared wild-life viewing tips and even helped us fix a flat tire. On the other hand, some of the campers were really loud, and they sometimes had dance parties with blaring music. For laid-back, nature-loving parents, however, this place is PERFECT. We highly recommend it.

                        BEST vacation ever!

                        5 of 5
I wish there were a billion stars to rate our vacation on Trout Lake! We had 2 couples and a combined 5 kids between the ages of 11 and 15 (3 girls and 2 boys). Not only is the North Shore absolutely incredible, you won't get any nicer or accommodating hosts than Mike and Linda! Their goal was to make sure we had our best vacation ever and boy did they deliver! Mike came out 2 days and took our kids tubing, which was all of their favorite part of the trip! They had every water toy imaginable for us and the kids - from a motorized fishing boat to kayaks, to a sunfish sailboat, rafts, a floating dock, a paddleboard and a pedal boat, which we explored the nearby coves on. The best part for me was that not once did I hear "I'm bored"! The one and only day that we ventured away from the lake (a day trip to The Wild Center" and Lake Placid), all the kids wanted to do was get back to "their lake". We had gorgeous weather all week and absolutely hated to say goodbye to our little piece of paradise. If you want a vacation that you and your family can reconnect on and that you can enjoy the simple pleasures of relaxing at the lake, playing board games and yard games, having s'mores by the campfire at night, sitting on the porch or lying in the hammock and reading a great book or sipping a glass of wine, this is the perfect place and the perfect vacation for you. The funny thing was that we live in FL and I so wanted to explore the Thousand Islands but I couldn't pull myself away from the lake for a moment to go and explore - but I wouldn't have changed a single minute of this wonderful vacation! Thanks so much for sharing your paradise, Mike and Linda!
