                            Recent Palenville Reviews

A perfect location just outside of Woodstock

                            5 of 5
Not knowing anything about Woodstock or the surrounding area, it was serendipitous that I discovered the Imagine Woodstock House. To the west you are minutes away from the Catskills, to the east is the Hudson River Valley and miles of parks and historical homes. Anything and everything you might want to explore is no more than an hour away, with the exception of Sleepy Hollow and it is a quick drive down the freeway. There is a lovely restaurant in Bearsville along with a wonderful tiny grocery store, the Cub Market, which can take care of most of your specialty culinary needs and sells great sandwiches for picnics. Sunfrost Farms is just down the road between Bearsville and Woodstock and is every cooks dream. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to cook in. Formerly owned by a composer from the 60’s who renovated, redesigned, lifted and expanded the original cottage; the current owner—who utilizes the house only as a rental—has filled it with musical memorabilia: old electric guitars, radios, phonographs and records. CD players and large flat screen TV’s are in two bedrooms, while the living area contains one that goes on forever. There is adequate air conditioning for the summer both downstairs and in the upstairs bedroom, and heat for the winter; being there during the month of September in 2016 we needed both, and were always comfortable. The original tiny cottage has the most wonderful floors—wide wooden planks, softly gleaming; an ancient rock fireplace stained black with soot is at the end of the dining room. The doors into the house and leading from the dining room into the kitchen and a downstairs bedroom are white washed—like the horizontal planked walls—and Dutch style. I love the antique upholstered chairs in the dining room and the table they surround…not necessarily a trestle style, but similar in its length and width…and charm and age. Outside is bucolic peace. I love the backyard with its towering trees on all four sides and the old weathered table with room for six, which is great place to have a restorative happy hour before dinner after a day of exploring. We spent four fun filled weeks at the Imagine Woodstock Stock House and I do acknowledge that the house is old, and has an old house's quirks. They are well worth adapting to. Mike Young was always responsive if we had a slight problem or question and extremely accommodating to all of our needs.

Fantastic getaway on the beautiful Hudson River to commune with nature & beauty inside and outside!

                            5 of 5
The home is even better than shown in the photos and reviews! I had very high expectations based on the photos and reviews, and the home and surrounding property took my breath away. Our party of six were all comfortable and there was room for more guests beyond our party of six. The home was immaculately prepared, complete with a welcome note and bottle of wine from the owners! The bedrooms were beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and fine linens. The layout of the common living spaces on the lower level were quite conducive to cooking at home, playing board games, enjoying nature on the property, as well as comfortable spots to read quietly on the wrap around porch or grand living room. We had a question about using the internet upon arrival, and texted the owners, who responded quickly with the fix to get us online fast. Juan served as a concierge in advance of our arrival, answering all of my questions about recommended restaurants, activities and must see attractions in the area. I highly recommend this property for your family or friends who want to gather in a warm, inviting, fantastically designed home. Our stay was for five nights, and we were all sad to leave, however our family all said, we must return again! Some helpful recommendations for you regarding activities. If you wish to see the Olana Estate with a guided tour, book your reservation in advance. The grounds are amazing, and there are tours for the landscape and/or interior of the home. If you can do only one, do the landscape tour. For shopping, dining, taking in local Hudson feel, Warren Street in downtown Hudson has an abundance of restaurants, antique shops, vintage clothing stores, book stores that kept our young adult kids fully entertained. Juan provided a lovely list of recommended dining spots. The home is walking distance to main street Catskill which has great dining options, if you want to walk to eat one day for breakfast or dinner. We dined at The New York Restaurant and it was 10/10! We planned some of our party arriving at Hudson Train station, and enjoyed beers at a small brewery directly across from the station. Don't miss the antique warehouse further down from the train station for fantastic prices and beautiful antiques. On a personal note, as an interior designer, I am in awe of the renovation/design of the property. It is elegantly appointment, yet warm and inviting. You really must see this home to believe it!

The property was beautiful the house was great the amenities were all there if there was only one negative it would be that the kitchen was a little bit warmer than we would have liked it but beyond that my entire family had a wonderful wonderful time. Most important the management was there whenever we needed a question answered
