Overall we greatly enjoyed our full week at Whitebrook Lodge (studio). My wife mostly favored the studio's heated floors, cozyness of the studio and having a two room studio. My 6'7" frame obviously loved the king size bed and overhead spa showers, and liked using the gas grill! After arriving after dark and finding the door key, we had to quickly customized ourselves to the studio's setup (using the on-demand water heater, arranging furniture to our liking for the week, preparing and eating most of our morning and evening meals, and acquainting ourselves to other little personalities of the lodge and studio). The gas grill played a big role in our lives and saved the day because we preferred to dine in mostly to enjoy our relationship privately and the ambiance of the lodge's setting in the woods of Wilmington NY and Whiteface Mtn. My wife prepared our daily meal menu well and I carried out her intentions on the grill (steaks) and using cast iron skillets to scramble eggs and saute dishes. Dinners were great! The little bar area provided space to prepare meals and clean up after eating (no kitchen). At times we ate out, we favored Big Slide Brewing on Rt73. Great brews on tap and food menu. The lodge itself is still under construction (renovation) and rough. It will be a beautiful spacious home or lodge in the future. Out of our and owners control was the local and regional weather. We came to the Adirondacks to xc ski to our (my) hearts content. It didn't happen; however it was a great location to Whiteface Mtn and Adirondack High Peaks for xc skiing (first day only), snowshoeing (next two days), and then microspikes hiking (final two days). The snow conditions quickly deteriorated after the second day we were there. Sad! Nevertheless we had a great time in the mountains. In passing, we wish the owners all the luck in completing the lodge, and thank them for letting us escape from our world and to theirs for a week in Adirondack Park. We'll be back!
