A Most Enjoyable and Relaxing Experience on Lake Champlain!

      5 of 5
What a find! While booking our vacation for a summer get away on Lake Champlain, I felt compelled to write a review about our stay in this beautifully decorated home. Similar to the previous reviews stated, our experience was spectacular. The fact that this private home sits directly on the shores of Lake Champlain as well as its proximity to restaurants and shops adds to the appeal of this property. The massive master bedroom (with a fireplace) overlooks Cumberland Bay, a fantastic view! We found the home to be very well equipped for entertaining our crew, inside and out, including local friends and family who came by for a Fourth of July picnic. There are many choices to enjoy a meal; in the formal dining room, informal dining room, the stone patio off the cozy lake room, or on the deck overlooking the lake- which was my favorite dining and lounging spot. The deck connects to a nice stairway down to the rocky shore, which was perfect for our teens to go fishing. As a previous review referenced, Irises Cafe and Wine Bar is a local gem just a stroll away, and don’t miss the Champlain Wine Company for wine tasting of local flavors right next door. There is so much to do (or not if that is your goal) for a relaxing and fun filled stay. If you love history, this house is full of character and interesting facts from the past. The library is a great place to escape for a quiet book or a quick nap. I enjoyed checking out the painting of the Battle of Plattsburgh in the library, and reading up on the background of this historic event that occurred on that very site. For those with an adventurous spirit, our day trips to Lake Placid and Montreal (within a one hour drive) added to the magic of our stay. I’m glad we found this home, it is quite a find. We will definitely be back!
