Your Own Lodge was the location for our 2016 biennial family reunion—sixteen family members ranging from 16 to 65. We found the house to be accurately depicted in the listing, and especially enjoyed the outdoor spaces of the house: the swimming pool (of course!), the large back deck with a grill and space for all of us to share meals, the yard area for cornhole, the firepit for s’mores, and the lovely shaded side porch which gave us the perfect location for morning card games. In addition, we were delighted to be in walking distance to the variety of coffee shops, stores, and restaurants in Tannersville (shout out to Twin Peaks for the donuts and the coffee!!) And the wifi worked great, even with multiple devices all going at once.
The new bathrooms in this house were all beautiful with both showers and bathtubs available, but we rated this location a 4 instead of a 5 because the bedrooms were pretty sparse and plain. The entire house had no closets and no hooks or racks of any kind to hang up clothing, which meant living out of our suitcases or draping our clothes over the spare beds in our rooms (for those who had them) or folding chairs. For a week long stay, this was disappointing. In addition, the bedrooms on the second floor were very warm so we ended up moving our “warm blooded” siblings out of those rooms and even purchasing an extra fan.
Brett was super to work with in making the arrangements, and in getting us information prior to arrival. We found a leaky toilet when we moved in and this was fixed the very next morning. Brett responded quickly to this concern and to pleas for help in getting the hot tub to work (which it did!) It is our practice to go to a different place for each of our reunions so I cannot say that we will return here—however, I would be quite happy to work with Brett to arrange another vacation rental, and if you are looking for a great group location to stay for Hunter Mountain adventures, the Lodge definitely works!
