          Recent Findley Lake Reviews

          Great Escapists

          5 of 5
Completely remodaled and is a gem. We especially enjoyed the view of the lake from the generous living room window. Immaculate, well-provided and beautifully finished. You need bring nothing more than clothes, toiletries and good books, as we did. We wanted a quiet get away from our hectic days and got it. March is off season so can't speak for night life but enough "life" in town to satisfy us. We tend to be home cooks and have enjoyed the "challenges" of cooking in quite a few cottage kitchens often to comic effect. None here --the kitchen, and in fact, all the cottage utilities were well supplied. Our only laugh here was to have not taken a better kitchen inventory before our initial trip to Wegmans as we bought some basics which were already in the kitchen larder. Our cottage hosts, Kari and Hans, were especially welcoming. They were a wealth of local information and made us feel quite special guests. All resulting in a very relaxing, comfortable stay.

          Terrific time at The Tottering

          5 of 5
If the Tottering is not available for your vacation, change your vacation dates. It is a gem. Porches on front, side and back provide sun or shade any time of day, the surrounding lawn and gardens are colorful. Short walk to the lakefront. The cottage is cozy and well stocked with every need: you could even bake a pie if one were so inclined. The kitchen is ample and the island allowed 3 people to prepare food without being in each other's way or access to,sink or refrigerator. The living areas are cozy and there are little retreats tucked away in master bedroom, sitting area and wingback chairs by the gas burning fireplace. Afghans are plentiful for cool evenings on the deck or anywhere. Books, puzzles, games: something for everyone. Pt. Chautauqua itself is a beautiful neighborhood on the historic register with homes and cottages whose architecture make an iinteresting walk. The cottage was lovingly restored by the owners whose progress is documented in 3 photo albums, very interesting viewing. The owner met us upon arrival , was helpful, and was available via text or email during the stay for questions, if necessary. We would definitely rent again when we need a place that sleeps 8. Two and one half baths were nice. When 8 year old granddaughter made a wish upon the first evening star, it was that she was" staying a whole week! " Alas, she only was there for a long weekend. Good job, Sandy and family.
