      Pretty as the Pictures

      5 of 5
My family of 13, 10 adults & 3 children, spent 5 wonderful days at this large, but homey country estate. The layout of the house was perfect for a large group. It accommodated everyone together, yet there were nooks and crannies where you could be alone. And that kitchen was straight out of a magazine! Double sinks, 2 dishwashers, freestanding ice machine and counterspace that never ran out. The furnishings were casual and comfortable and the collection of books, numerous and eclectic. Some of us went ziplining in the area, took the Scenic Skyride Chairlift to the top of Hunter Mt & hiked up to Kaaterskill Falls. Others swam in the delightful backyard pool during the day and at night, went into the hot tub to relax. Main Street in Tannersville was a short walk from the house and had an old fashion candy store and cafe, a liquor store, a women's boutique, a coffee & donut shop, post office, antique shop & more. There was also a playground in a local park, not far from town. The supermarket was a 5 min drive away. The bedrooms were comfortable and it was a pleasure not to have to bring bedding and towels, as many other rentals require. My only complaint was that there were 3 rooms with double beds, too small for many adult couples and not conducive for singles or siblings to share. It's not just finding the # of bedrooms your group needs, but also the configuration of the beds in each room. Single beds may have worked better, as you can always move them together for a couple, but also sleep 2 children in 1 room. Some twin beds would have made the sleeping situation more flexible. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a large private country estate for a ski vacation or for a summer getaway. It pleased some very fussy people!
