Charming, updated house on Friends Lake 2miles from Chestertown

                      5 of 5
James' house is very charming, and has been updated recently. The house has everything you will need for a relaxed family vacation. Beautiful hard wood floors throughout the house and nice granite countertops. Towels are available, and a washer and dryer if you need them. Plenty of dishes and cooking equipment. There is a screen in back porch. We ate dinner on it one evening to avoid a few pesky flies. Also a nice back deck to lounge on or have a before dinner drink. Friends Lake is about a 100 yard walk down a private road. There is a small beach with a swimming platform. We went swimming in the lake. James' neighbors on the lake are very friendly. Chestertown is 2 miles directly east where there is a Tops grocery. We ate at the Odd Duck and the Main Street Ice Cream Store. Both were very good. Overall a great experience.

Great place to reset, and enjoy what's really important

Thanks so much for the use of your cabin! We had planned a few daytrips in the area, as we have 4-year-old twins and assumed they'd get a little stir-crazy in a cabin by the lake for 5 days (with [gasp!], no TV!). As it turned out, we never left the property! The kids absolutely loved it and are already asking when we can return. The lake is gorgeous. Sandy beach w/ a gentle slope into the water, perfect for the little guys. CRYSTAL clear- I could actually see the floating dock's anchor bucket, which had to be 15' deep. Remarkably clean water. We spent every morning swimming and sand- castle building, then back to the cabin for a late lunch, and capped off each evening with a sunset kayak trip. Back to the cabin for dinner, and after the goblins were asleep, enjoyed the firepit, crickets, and cocktails under an unreal canopy of stars. The cabin was well-kept, clean, and had all the provisions we needed to cook everything from BBQ chicken to oven-braised short ribs. Thank you for opening your home to us, and allowing us to build some wonderful family memories!

Rustic, clean, comfortable, easy access to Friend Lake which was lovely.

My husband and I had a great week away. We were able to relax comfortably and enjoy horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, fishing, swimming. The people at the lake were friendly and there were minimal motor boats running which was nice. Kayaks and a rowboat was supplied. We were a little disappointed that the rowboat's oars were not attached appropriately which made using the boat difficult. :( Brendan was very nice and so was the cleaning woman Cynthia, who greeted us and gave us a tour. We were very glad were went and enjoyed our week in Chester Town. Circle B ranch is a good choice for horseback riding. Ausable Chasm is a great place to visit for hiking and other physical challenges. Palmer Pond was an easy and enjoyable hike. The Ice Cream Parlor is a great place to eat. Crossroads is another good place to go for a fishing license, deli sandwiches, a brewery is on the premises and they have all kinds of fishing supplies, books, cards, clothing, fun things for keepsakes. The people who work here are kind, friendly and helpful. Lake Placid is a nice trip to make and we had a wonderful opportunity to attend a Rugby Tournament in the area. Yes, we would recommend to friends.
