The cabin sits on a high ridge with a great, expansive view to the nearby mountain range that is closer than the provided photos might have indicated.
One of the best features is the extremely well-appointed kitchen with every supply one might need for making one's meals including good knives (a rare item in a rental!). Less successful were the electrical switches, some of which were taped over as non-functioning or to be operated only with a remote control. We didn't need the overhead fan, but additional lighting for the main living room might have helped.
Another minor inconvenience was the very low water pressure. It took quite a while to fill water pitchers, etc. The doorway between the living room/dining space and the two-bedroom wing of the house could have used some kind of door: either a folding door or even a hanging curtain of some sort so people using the bathroom on that side could go between the bedroom and bathroom with a bit more privacy.
The deck was nicely appointed with generous amounts of furniture, but it was still too cool to sit outside in the mornings and evenings.
There wasn't quite enough comfortable seating for three couples to watch TV. One additional comfy chair in the living room could help that situation.
The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. The dining room table was very large to accommodate everyone and there were very good provisions of the basic needs such as napkins and paper products, foil, baggies, and a great selection of spices and condiments (although we had brought our own.) We didn't do laundry, but we noted there were very good appliances, detergents, etc. provided for that as well.
The only other caveat is that the cabin, while remote and therefore quiet, is quite a way from some of the attractions. Although Silver City is only 25 miles (approx.) away, it takes almost an hour and a half to get there because of curvy, hilly roads. The same goes for natural attractions such as the GIla Cliff Dwellings which require quite a drive to access. One needs to be sure of basic supplies such as gasoline and groceries before heading out. So if one is aware and fully prepared, it can be a real "quiet retreat" for a vacation.
We were generally very happy with our stay but, just as some others wrote, a bit surprised at the cost for the cleaning service. Perhaps it's because cleaning crews have to come in from afar that adds to that cost.
Overall, a good, quiet place!
