      Recent Pittsburg Reviews

Just what we were looking for

      5 of 5
We traveled to Pittsburg with our new side by side ATV. We are not new to the Pittsburg area, but we are new to driving and riding the trails. Kate and Roger gave us very helpful advice. The cabin was clean, and well stocked. The location was perfect-and of the road, yet accessible to the trails. Very quiet. Everything we needed in the cabin, and if not- Roger and Kate were right next door. I hesitate to write such a good review,as I fear we may not be able to book it again after all the good reviews!

      All the comforts of home!

      5 of 5
I can't imagine staying anywhere else if we returned to the Pittsburg area. This rental was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The camp had all the comforts of home but still had the rustic charm we were looking for in a vacation rental. We loved being able to make some of our meals at home and then relax in the recliners in front of the gas fireplace. The camp and yard were spotless and is obviously very well cared for. The location is perfect - easy access to restaurants, food shopping, hiking trails and Moose Alley (also the ATV/snowmobile trail access is just across the road). Nikki could not have made the rental process easier or more pleasant. She checked in to be sure our stay was great before we even made it home! For dinner we highly recommend Tracy's Hillside Grille - it was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Their cheese battered fried brocolli appetizer was easily the best vegetable dish I have ever eaten! We also ate at Buck Rub Pub (not so good but it might have just been what we ordered) and at Rainbow Grille at Tall Timber Resort which is just a short walk from the camp (dinner there was fabulous and a little more "fancy"). We heard that breakfast at Happy Corner Cafe was delicious but never got there ourselves. We recommend the hikes to Fourth CT Lake, Garfield Falls, Mt Magalloway Tower, Falls in the River, and Johnson Memorial Forest (this is an easy "woodland walk" just across from the fire station on Rt 3). Easy access to Colebrook and the Dixville Notch area via Route 145. Also make sure to visit the East Inlet (especially if you plan to kayak). We saw a moose cow with a calf right on the side of Rt 3. We also saw a grey fox, deer, and tons of cool birds. The dock was great for fishing. If you love bird/animal watching, hunting, fishing, kayaking, beautiful scenery, waterfalls, etc. this is the perfect place! Make sure you get a map of the area that includes the logging roads so you can really get out there and explore (we bought ours for $3.50 at the Tall Timber Resort just down the road).
