Our stay outside this rural village was a wonderful counterpoint to our time in busy Amsterdam.

The apartment was clean and comfortable, cleverly constructed of recycled materials expertly combined, and our hosts very helpful, providing bikes and advice that took us on a beautiful circuit in the countryside. We shopped for groceries in town, a ten-minute bike ride from the farm, and enjoyed our meals on a small terrace outside our apartment. The sound of the train rushing past was atmospheric, as was a rooster next door, and biking along the river Vecht at evening to the restaurant called Pavijoen Uit & Meer was a treat. We visited the working windmill in town (open Saturdays), shopped for raw herring (a favorite of our son) and other delights in this quiet town where people were kind and friendly. I hope we can return here someday, and stay again.

This private house was perfect for our family. The description of the listing was very accurate. We loved having a washing machine for laundry. The house was spacious, clean and well-equipped. Stephanie was the perfect host. She was attentive but, not too attentive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to family and friends.

We had a lovely stay at De Kleine Broodheuvel. The house is perfect for families and my 8 year old loved the goats. It was hard to find at first as the address is a cycle path but fine once we realised that car access to the house was allowed. The house is 10 minutes walk from a train station and we took the train to Amsterdam and Amersfoort. The train goes to Schipol airport so we could have come without a car. There are also good shops only 10 minutes walk away. There are lots of things to do if you bring a car - cycle in De Hoge Veluwe on the free bikes, visit the Kroller Muller gallery, go to Amersfoort zoo which is very good, or the open air museum near Arnhem. De Kleine Broodheuvel is a great base for a family holiday and I would recommend it.
