Relaxing week on the dairy farm

          5 of 5
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment for a family and it was like a home away from home. It was very comfortable and well maintained. The hospitality was second to none. We got treated well by the other farmers in the area when we told them where we were staying and asked if Gerhard was our host, he is well known and liked in the area. We really enjoyed getting to know the baby cows and our kids loved the recreation room and outside trampoline. There were some good restaurants in the area that we enjoyed exploring. The weather was mostly good on our trip but we did have some days of rain and even so we had a hard time leaving and wished we could have stayed much longer. We would love to return.

Beautiful apartment in a great location.

I stayed in Weesp for four days with my best friend and my youngest child after leaving Germany and on the way to Bruge. We found the apartment better than expected. The location was just perfect to visit everything you would love to experience in the Netherlands. We took advantage of the museum passes and went to several museums in Amsterdam: Van Gogh, Rijks, etc and the Amsterdam Castle in Muiden which my 5 year old loved. Paul and Melanie even offered us metro passes which proved invaluable as I would not even know how to buy them. You just have to put money on the card at the train station for the 6 euro round trip ride to Amsterdam. We took a day trip to Delft and toured the Royal Delft Factory which is impressive. Unfortunately the passes don't cover that and they charge 12 euros to tour the factory but it was worth it. I found the Netherlands extremely clean and the people very friendly. I enjoyed staying in the peaceful country setting in beautiful Weesp with the close proximity to bustling Amsterdam just 15 minutes away by train. I would definately recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to visit Amsterdam without the drama. Paul and Melanie were great. Thank you for your hospitality.

          Exceeding expectations....

          5 of 5
We enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing two weeks in the Country and Lake apartment - and we don't say that lightly since we travel with two small children (twin boys of 2 years old).... The actualy apartment, amentities and surroundings surpassed any expectations we had based on the descriptions on the Internet. The apartment is beautiful, clean, tastfully decorated (including beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers), and the view (typical Dutch) is magnificent. Many of the days we were there, we just stayed "home", with the kids playing in the big garden (including sandbox), and us, adults, enjoying the quiet and the view. Or we hopped over the dyke to play on the beach. Or we rode our bikes along the dyke to the quaint little town Edam. One of the days we went to Amsterdam to visit the zoo (Artis) and this was only a 40-minutes drive. Saskia and Onny were wonderful hosts and they helped us make the apartment child-friendly (they had two cribs for us available, put up a gate on top of the stairs, and even lent us some toys for the boys!). We were/are so pleased with our stay at the Country and Lake that we are considering coming back there for next year's vacation!
