Relaxation in Montserrat

4 of 5
We spent 8 very relaxing days at Surf Sighed villa in March. While our arrival was delayed by one day because of mixups at the airport, property manager Kathy had the villa ready for us when we finally arrived. A pitcher of cold water in the fridge, full ice trays in the freezer, and fresh flowers throughout. The bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable, and the pool area offers privacy and relief from the midday heat. The wifi signal was strong and reliable, and we had a few video chats with loved ones back home. The only thing I can think of that we missed during our stay was TV service. My husband made good use of the DVD player and video library the first few days though! The views are simply stunning, and I spent most days lounging by the pool and taking in the scenery. I took many pictures, but they don't serve justice. The island is charming and quiet, and easy to get around. We rented a car from Winston, a very nice gentleman who also gave us a tour of the exclusion zone. He picked us up at the airport, brought us to the police station for a visitors drivers license, and even stopped at a local grocery store so we could pick up a few items to get us started. His contact information is listed in the welcome book which Amy sent to us before arriving. She was also available to answer any all questions I had prior to our arrival. Even though they were all beverage focused. ;) All in all we had a wonderfully relaxing stay in Montserrat, and have already started planning to return next year. Thank you Amy and Kathy for making us feel so welcomed!

Incredible Views

5 of 5
This was our 1st time to Monserrat. Driving on the left with a right side drive car took some practice but traffic on the island is light. John Gage provided a perfect car and valuable advice on the Island. The Villa is terrific and you could spend all your time just enjoying the views. The fridge came stocked with drinks and snacks to get us through to our 1st trip to the store. The grocery stores are not like anything in the states but have plenty to keep you from going hungry. We actually found a great buy on steaks, although all meats are frozen. Every restaurant was delicious and cheaper than most Caribbean Islands. Some are a little difficult to find and even Google maps had trouble with roads. The ATM's work fine for getting EC with low fees and good exchange rate. The Volcano observatory is a must but be prepared the road is very steep and narrow. A trip to the exclusion zone gives a little insight on the destruction. Connecting through Antigua requires some time since you have to clear customs with forms in triplicate and then go back through security to get to Fly Montserrat. The ferry might be a good option if it's running and you have the time. The people here are incredible. Friendly, considerate, not like any other island we've been too. This is a very relaxing trip and the villa is just the place to spend it. Thanks Kate!

amazing house!!!!

5 of 5
Hello!!me and my little baby stayed 12 days in this beautiful house! It is up in the hill so you can enjoy everyday a stunning ocean view and it is 20 minutes by walk from the beach and 10 min by car from the supermarket . When you get in there is a huge living room with a sliding glass door to go out in the balcony . We had any meal outside. The kitchen is fully furnished, and renewed. Every room has a queen size bed and own bathroom with bath tub. My room had a sliding glass door too...when I awaked up in the morning, open the curtain and see the ocean..I felt so happy and in peace with my self. Outside there is a swimming pool, clean and deep, with some deck chairs .And there is a laundry too. In this house you feel at home!! The owner, Marie Jose,is a lovely fantastic person, and she available to help you in anything you need. Montserrat is a fabulous island, you are surrounded by nature, not McDonald and commercial stupid stuff, just nature, animals, ocean, beach, freedom, peace, tranquility, love, and life. You can breath pure air and feel alive. I reccomend this house, I just loved it!! I'm looking forward to come back again (sorry for my English)
