Beach is great for sunning and not too deep for small children, several sand bars make it fun for bigger kids as it creates waves for them to "surf" on (bring some of those styrofoam kids surfboards!) and you can keep your eyes on the beach right from the deck or living room. Love listening to the sounds of the water, our daughter was amazed at seeing the moon rise over Lake Huron and the stars on a clear night are insane! I found out that there are only a few units for rent here, the rest are privately owned, so we really had the whole place to ourselves. Cabin was neat, clean and had a little bit of everything you need, beds were a bit too firm for our taste but otherwise everything was great. Plenty of blankets, fans in each room, pots, pans, glasses, dishes, utensils, toaster, coffee maker, all stocked with the basic kitchen essentials. You may need to bring more pillows if you like to have more than 1 or 2 for each person. The gas grill has seen better days so we never used it. There a quite a few dvd's for all ages and a few games in the footstool. Wifi worked great, cable tv, Netflix give you options for a rainy day, but no tv's in bedrooms. There really aren't any good restaurants in Oscoda, G's pizza was the only place that was "o.k." (my 9 year old thought they had the best chicken strips she ever had) I read reviews for every restaurant in town and thought I had the good places for dinner figured out but all the good reviews must have been the owners friends/relatives because every place we went was a disappointment. You may be better off heading south to Tawas to find something decent for dinner. Conoe rental places, fast food, Kmart, couple small grocery store are all right down the street for anything you need. For sun and fun and all the sandy beach you want to yourself, this is a great place to just chill with the family!
