My wife and two teenage daughters stayed in Villa La Jolla for two weeks in August. We have stayed in homes all over the world and our company provides services to the luxury home market in the US and by any standard this is a very nice home. It’s obvious that significant effort was spent on the architectural design, engineering and build. Without reservation I would recommend this property, it it everything described and more. Jerry was great to work with, Dharna came almost everyday and cooked and cleaned inside while Ashneel cleaned the pool and worked on the yard/garden. They were both very accommodating. Day1 Ashneel showed us around the various markets in Sigatoka so we could stock up on food - I even joined Ashneel’s family for kava that afternoon! The people in Fiji are unbelievably nice and generous people.
You could easily spend weeks and not hardly leave the tranquil, relaxing environment of the villa. There is a small market, ATM, liquor store and gas station and even a rental car place within easy walking distance. Before leaving the airport we picked up a SIM chip for an iPad (super easy & cheap) and rented a SUV. We did too much to mention but highlights would be; relaxed at the villa, hot-tub/pool, snorkeled, kayaked, stand up board (all included), watched breaching whales while eating great pizza at nearby Eco Café, Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Beqa Adventure Divers shark dive (AA+), dove in front of the villa with Diveaway Fiji located at the nearby Hideaway resort, ice-cream at nearby Warwick resort (ask for Posita tell her Todd said bula), Navua River Rafting w/ Moses (A+), hiked to nearby Biausevu Waterfall (ask Ashneel to call his friend) and so much more.
This was my 2nd trip to Fiji and even with all the wonderful things I mentioned my family said the highlight and most memorable part of our trip was the time we spent with the people of Fiji. We took loads of school supplies for the children and spent hours in different villages. The Fijian people are by worldly standards poor but I would rank a few of the villagers I met as the richest people I’ve ever had the privilege to talk with. Give yourself a memorable treat, skip the big resort and stay at the Villa La Jolla and experience the real Fiji and you too will understand why they say Fiji is one of the happiest place on earth.
For what it’s worth, I found it helpful for my arrival to have the GPS coordinates of the villa which are: 18°12'10.9"S 177°40'21.9"E
