I was concerned about selecting a house in Nantucket to rent without seeing it first, but Cynthia, the owner, eased my concerns when we spoke. Not only did she give me an accurate description of the house itself, she offered advice on beaches and restaurants to try and told me when to book the reservation for our car on the ferry so we didn't get shut out (7 months in advance).
The House: Perfect for our family of 4. Spacious, clean, plenty of towels and beach chairs, a 15 min walk to town, and centrally located for daily excursions to the beaches, restaurants and sights. Central A/C and washer dryer a plus!
Beaches/Food: We went to 5 different beaches, (Jetties, Sconset, Surfside, Madaket, and Cisco). We had our car, so was easy to get around. Some days we got sandwiches (Something Natural or Provisions, both great!!) and other days we ate near the beach. (Summer House near Sconset, great ambiance overlooking the ocean, food good, but pricey, and loved the pizza at Jetties beach near the town).
Our favorite dinners were at Cru and Straight Wharf. Others we liked also, Arno's for breakfast, Dune dinner, and Millie's near Madaket for pub food pre-sunset. (Then walked onto the beach to watch the sunset.). Best ice cream on the island, Juice Bar!
Our favorite day: Cisco Brewery! On a cloudy day, we left Cisco beach and went to Cisco Brewery for lunch and cocktails. There are 2 food trucks (Millie's and Lobster Trap) and plenty of beer, wines and infused vodkas to choose from. Our favorite was Blueberry Vodka w/ lemonade! Great place to sit and people/dog watch.
All in all it was a fabulous week! Weather was beautiful, (80s during the day and 70s at night). The house was great to come home to after a busy day at the beach. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!!
